Christmas lights warmed up “The Heart” of shoppers On Friday, 17th November 2006

“The Heart” of every shopper warmed up when despite the howling wind and the torrential rain, The Heart of Walton shone through at its first ever Christmas light switch-on last Friday evening, 17th November 2006.

Shops at The Heart welcomed dedicated shoppers as they braved the elements and waited for the Christmas lights to be switched on by Father Christmas and his two little helpers Jakob and Cicely from the crowd, as well as Cinderella and Prince Charming.

Father Christmas’ Rotarian helpers collected for local charities as shoppers received their golden chocolate coin gift from The Heart and danced away to Christmas songs. There was hot chocolate, crepes and hot chestnuts on hand to warm up shoppers.

Broadcast by the Radio Jackie’s roadshow, the evening escalated into the announcement of The Heart’s car promotion winner by the station’s popular breakfast show hosts Neil and Nicky. Arthur Benham was the lucky winner of the brand new VW Polo in Flash Red, the prize of a promotion that was launched in celebration of the opening of Walton’s new shopping destination.

During the evening, shoppers were also able to get their hands on the first copies of the “Gifts from The Heart” Christmas shopping guide, making Christmas shopping much easier this year.
